Date: Saturday, October 5 11:00am – 3:00pm (doors open at 10:30 am) Location: The Museum of the City of New York, Ronay Menschel Hall
WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
After decades of community and global activism, the statue of J. Marion Sims was finally removed from Central Park East on April 17th, 2018. Sims was a physician who gained fame in Western medicine for his experiments on African-American, enslaved women. The Committee to Empower Voices for Healing and Equity was formed to move forward the process of commissioning a new artwork for the site by the end of 2020.
Join us for the final artist selection panel to determine the best proposal for the new monument. Click here to RSVP.
We invite you to come and share your thoughts as we hear from the artist finalists to move forward, beyond this painful legacy. Make your voice heard. For questions please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
