We are calling on all past and present residents of El Barrio and our housing allies to join us in objecting to Mayor Bill de Blasio and Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito’s plan to gentrify our community.
Up-zoning to allow 30-35 story market-rate buildings with only a handful of “affordable” apartments (that are NOT affordable to low-income residents) will destroy the very fabric of our neighborhood. We will lose our precious cultural legacy and our hard-earned political clout if their plan goes through.
Help us save East Harlem/El Barrio! Tell Speaker Mark-Viverito and Community Board 11 to do the right thing and STOP the racist rezoning! No ifs, ands, or buts about it!
We need your presence TONIGHT at Community Board 11’s Full Board Meeting & Public Hearing – 6:00 pm at Mt. Sinai Icahn School of Medicine, Goldwurm Auditorium, 1425 Madison Avenue (NE corner of 98th Street).
If you can’t attend the meeting, call Speaker Mark-Viverito at 212-828-9800 and/or Community Board 11 at 212-212-831-8930 / 8929 / 8924 * Tweet #ElBarrioNoSeVende #EastHarlemNot4Sale and #NoRezoning to @MMViverito and @ManhattanCB11 * Email: [email protected] and [email protected] and tell them to JUST SAY NO! Period!
