Members of Equity Now at Mount Sinai — a coalition of current and past employees and alum of Mount Sinai, patients, community members and community leaders — are planning a protest this week to demand that Mount Sinai leadership drop its profits-before-people approach and become accountable for employee and patient well-being and safety.
The action comes as a response to the recent New York Post and New York Magazine articles highlighting unacceptable conditions and behaviors in the Mt. Sinai Emergency Department, and a federal case against Mount Sinai for sex, race, and age discrimination.
Protestors will be demonstrating outside Mount Sinai on Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st from 12-1pm, and meeting on the north-east corner of Madison and 98th Street each day.
Equity Now organizers invite East Harlem residents to join them. For more information, contact them by email.
